Jon,
Thanks for writing. Glad you enjoyed the movie. Tia's mom lives in Miami and Tia, who is now 12, lives there with her. I'm in NYC, so Tia and I both travel back and forth as frequently as possible. She spends summers, vacations, and many weekends with me.
The documentary was originally conceived of as a PR tool and a teaching tool/case study for MBA classes. When Jehane started working on it though, she quickly went a different directly deciding, smartly, to make more of a theatrical release with character development and a story line. It still gets used by business classes as a case study, but it's much more of a human interest story now.
Unfortunately, the movie hasn't made any money for Kaleil and me. Lionsgate, who owns it, has made all the money. I'm not sure, but I don't think Jehane really made any money with it, but it certainly was a great breakout, first movie for her. She's gone on to do a bunch of other great movies. If you haven't seen "Control Room", you should check it out.
Good luck,
-tj

Watched the movie last night for the first time. Very informative.
Something the movie didn't cover was the story on your daughter, where's her mother, etc. (if too personal, than that's ok)
She's a cutie though.
Who had the idea to make a documentary as this process was going on? That was a great idea, hopefully it was more lucrative than the business ended up being.
Anyway, just thought I'd drop a line, and let you know that I enjoyed the show, even though it prob didn't turn out the way that you had planned.
Thanks,
Jon T. Garrett
